Let's talk about how dead this place is. (Off-Topic)

I play plenty of Destiny 1. But...no one else plays Destiny 1. (There's that negativity again. ;-))

I recently purchased The Witch Queen and the 30th Anniversary Pack on sale, and for the most part, I had fun coming back for a while. I'll be honest, all this shaping, formatting and power balance crap is like learning new languages, which is pretty daunting...but for the most part I click 'Max Light' on DIM and adjust to whatever elemental burn is on. I'm well past done trying to strategize a perfect build (funny/sad story is, a few years ago, I actually paid a 'build expert' to look at my gear and create loadouts for me, such an idiot) and just buy empty slots, fill them up with the least confusing perks and spam 'B' to back out of the menu before I get killed.

But one thing I've noticed here in DBO over the years...is that for the most part, this place is... really more of a Playstation Pack. I don't say that with any malice or contempt; I just seemed to notice that when the FTB was being used, Playstation events were slightly more commonly made than Xbox ones. Not to say there aren't Xbox players here, of course. And crossplay helps bridge that gap for Destiny 2, but—and correct me if I'm wrong—the FTB seemed to be getting less general use by the time that system was implemented.

Another problem that kinda prevents more gatherings is really a shortage of players. Yeah, the site stats say 1400 registered users, but even accounting for lurkers, the active/semi-active forumgoers has to be less than 5% of that. And how many of those people are active D2 players? Especially active enough (with enough free time) to clear out half a day for a raid? A raid that most people have already done?

That's on the game/forum side.

On the news side, Bungie is in huge trouble. On every front. I doubt anything'll happen this year, but I'm truly worried that this might be the pulling of the toilet handle. And with most of the news being bad or unfortunate, who'd want to publish that here? And in terms of other Destiny content—sure, we can go out and find Destiny montages or cheeses or humorous fan creations...but unlike HBO where forumgoers didn't know until the news posted it...it's now ironically the opposite. The meager handful of posters and lurkers who have stayed all this time(or happened to stumble across us) post the find in a thread on the forum, and there you go—everybody knows about it. Nowadays, people tell us, we don't tell them.

Of course sales should probably be announced, but again, if people haven't bought an expansion or a dungeon this far out...do they really still want to play?

So to answer your question Coax... it's all of it. It is Destiny. We did lose interest. It did get too negative. We all got older, had kids, found new games, gave up games. We don't have anything interesting to talk about—at least not Destiny-wise—it would be just sad heart-rending trouble.

I kinda had plans to do more posts about the other games I was playing like I did with the other two, but I honestly just never put my thoughts down to paper and got too distracted moving on to something else!

I honestly don't know what Wu's plan is for this site. But I do know I still visit at least once a day, even if it's to see if nothing happened.

But yeah, I'm on D2 sometimes, and D1 almost all the time. ;-) Hit me up!
