Is it just me or is the Golden/Ghost gun actually a different gun than the Hunter's hand cannon?

I can't tell for sure, I would have to go frame by frame (which I can't at work), but it looks like the gun may materialize in his hand when he uses the super. In addition, when it runs out he switches back to his normal hand cannon. So not just a super charged version of your gun, but a magical phantom gun?

I believe it has been confirmed somewhere in the recent mass of info that the gun *spawns* as its own entity.
