go to Xur (Destiny)
If you have strange coins buy some exotic armor from xur, then do as many bounties as you can (queen/vanguard) these will help level up the armor much faster. The first 3-4 upgrades shouldn't require ascendant materials.
I don't know what armor you have, but here are my thoughts (you are a warlock, correct?):
- Do enough queen's wrath to get Helmets and chest pieces for free
- Buy the exotic gauntlets from Xur
- level up either dead orbit or vanguard (if you don't have any crucible marks stockpiled, then i would go with vanguard)
- buy the legendary boots from your vanguard
- Grind out bounties/patrol missions/random events
For reference, I have an exotic helmet, and legendary boots, gauntlets, and chest piece. They are all leveled up halfway (with just glimmer and parts). I have yet to use ascendant materials and that got me part way through 27.
