That axion bolt question (Destiny)
I've never seen the initial burst do damage; as far as I know, the bolts aren't aoe either. They do about 120 of 200 damage; if you've been slightly damaged they'll probably get you. Usually during my respawn screen, I can see them not quite kill whoever got me. And if that warlock spec'd for bloom and killed someone next to you with it, the bloom blast does more damage than the bolt does to the original target, and will probably kill you.
