The first clear we did took 5 hours. That was after three 4 hour failed attempts. Patience and calm seem to be the way to do this thing. As soon as we started slowing down and playing calm we went from 20 wipes in 4 hours to 2 wipes and success in 2 hours.

Nice and slow is definitely the way to go. I also probably spent 5-10 hours on it spread out over a couple fails before my first clear. Take some time off from it, it's not like you are missing out on great loot or anything.
