On XB1/360, the A50s have to use a chat cable to the controller because they pipe chat audio through the controller. No way around it.

PS4 and Mac/PC, on the other hand, do allow for true wirelessness because the A50 base station connects via USB and is recognized as a microphone device, so the chat audio is transmitted directly to the headset. It's pretty slick.
