Good idea or horrible idea? Crucible interrupted by Enemies. (Destiny)

I was reading through the Grimoire regarding the Crucible maps this morning. The lore of the Crucible is that it is Guardian training ground for facing the darkness and most of these maps were strategic locations for the Darkness that we have gained control over.

I believe that in the Destiny universe, it would make sense that from time to time the various races would attempt to reclaim those arenas that were lost to them (but not the abandoned ones, such as Firebase Delphi). I think it would be interesting if Crucible matches were occasionally interrupted by an onslaught of enemies that required both teams to work together to defeat them. I have no idea how this would be done yet, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Could this be a cool idea? Horrible idea? Should PvP and PvE always remain separated?
