Are you transferring your Top Level guns/ghost? I am sure you know that you want to have your highest level gear equipped when decrypting engrams. Outside of that, You can infuse higher level items from different classes if you don't need them. For instance, your hunter has a 300 Class Item, you get a 298 class Item, Obviously your hunters highest Item can't use it, BUT you can transfer that to your Titan, who has a 240 class Item. Infuse it, now youre up to 260ish.

Outside of that, its just strikes on strikes on strikes.
