Let's talk Legendary Marks and the Iron Banana (Destiny)

It forces you to make a choice. If you could always afford all three, you'd simply buy all three. There would be no analyzing how each weapon would benefit your current set up.

I'm not going to say I agree with it, but it is a common enough way to deal with rewards. It's like not giving a kid enough money to buy everything he wants, only enough to buy half of it. That way the kid has to think and decide what is truly important to them.
