Hmmm, Maybe I'm underestimating my Range stat. (Destiny)

I found this video from Planet Destiny that discusses the Range, Aim Assist, and Accuracy of guns in Destiny. Turns out the Range Stat is in control of all these stats. I always thought that accuracy would be be tied into stability, but that doesn't seem to be the case (sort of). The description Jon gives is basically that Range defines a cone that radiates from your gun. As you increase the range, you increase the length of the gun AND narrow the cone. You also increase your aim assist as you increase range. I do see how stability still affects your accuracy, because (I'm assuming) since it controls how much the gun recoils after each shot, it essentially keeps that cone closer to your original target, thus allowing you to fire more quickly. Each time you fire the cone blooms, (more so when out of ADS), so again range will also allow you to fire more quickly in a sense.

I've always tried to max my stability regardless of what it does to the range stat. I can see how this would be very detrimental to a sniper at long range. Chances are the cone will be larger than the target's head, thus creating the possibility of the reticle being on target but the shot still missing. I do see how stability gives me a better opportunity to land a follow up shot or multiple headshots by keeping my reticle near the target, but I may be better off going for more range to land more OHK's. I guess I'll have to mess around with some of my sniper stats.
