Correct me if I'm wrong here: the shield doesn't necessarily detain you, does it? You just can't walk through the shield, or you die? I thought detain was something else, a different buff besides the shield.

It does prevent you from moving out of it, though jumping or using any abilities that move you can cause you to leave the shield, and then you'll die.
