This week at Bungie we're prepping the November Update, set to arrive next week.
We've already alluded to the fact that this update will include some welcome additions to the Gunsmith, with Banshee-44 selling Weapon Parts in exchange for Glimmer. We also already promised some improvements to the quality of your Crucible lifestyle. The November Update will also contain good news for Hunters who draw from the Void with a fix that re-enables the Quiver perk. Nightstalkers will now be able to shoot three Shadowshots again, without the added "bonus" that previously took the rest of us to infinity and beyond.
Something we haven't yet mentioned is that Shaxx is going to have a few new items for sale, as well. After next week's update, once you've completed the "Blademaster" Quest to obtain your Exotic sword, you'll be able to purchase all three Legendary swords directly from Lord Shaxx.
After this update is deployed, some of the more tech savvy among you will be able to dig up some details for a new initiative we have planned to arrive just in time for the holiday season. We're planning something new to recognize and reward the Sherpas among you. We are calling it Refer-a-Friend.
Maybe you have a friend who will be getting Destiny as a gift this season. Perhaps their gift-giver will even be picking it up for them at a holiday sale coming to a store near you. If you intend to show them the way to the mountaintop, we'll have new rewards aimed at recognizing your service to the Kinderguardian.
Right now, we're putting the finishing touches on the program. We'll unpack the full and final details very soon.
Raise Your Banners
Next week, assuming everything goes well with the update, Iron Banner will return. For the first time ever it will feature Clash as the game mode. No need to control the zones, simply find your enemies, and eliminate them. To better explain our goals for the next Iron Banner, here's Senior Designer Derek Carroll.
Derek: The most obvious change for Iron Banner this time around will be the switch to Clash. I'd expect to see a bit less Super ability usage, and a lot more shooting across the board, but good teams will work together and hold territory even without the scoring incentives that Control provided. This will be the first time we've played Clash with power differences enabled, so it will be interesting to see how power affects this most basic of 6v6 gametypes.
A less overt, but no less important change is an overhaul of the rewards for this event:
- Iron Banner reputation from winning matches increased by 20%
- Activity completion rewards increased at all ranks, with even more significant increases at Rank 2 and above
- Packages from Lord Saladin upon reaching Rank 3 and Rank 5
- Iron Banner Artifacts can be obtained from the Rank 3 package
- Iron Banner Ghost Shells can be obtained from the Rank 5 package or activity completion rewards
Lord Saladin understands that the best Guardians deserve rewards equal to the challenge they face. He looks forward to watching new heroes emerge from this incarnation of the Iron Banner.
Gear is Under New Management
Earlier this week, your technological wingman was infused with new features. Yesterday, the Dev team released a Companion update that included some improvements for Bungie.net. You can go read their Patch notes to get the full details.
If you use the tools we have created on Bungie.net, you may have noticed our new Gear Manager added to your account. We've been allowing more and more players have access to keep from overloading it in its infancy. In yesterday's patch, the Companion team made the Gear Manager live for experimentation by all players. It's still in Beta, but test it out and give us some feedback.
Go take it for a spin, move some gear around, play with the filters. There is a new Maximize Light feature that will automagically equip all of your highest Light gear, regardless of where it is located. It already has a lot of cool features, and this isn't even its final form. The B.net team will continue to work on it as it transitions out of Beta, and then we'll do a full write up.
Stat of the Week
Festival of the Lost is no longer upon us. For the last two weeks Guardians have scoured the Destiny universe in search of sweet sweet candy. Over 250 million pieces of candy were collected during the Festival of the Lost. The real question remains, what did Eva Levante do with a quarter of a billion pieces of candy?
Help Specialists
We get asked various Destiny-related questions across all social media platforms, including our very own Bungie.net. Our response is to send them to our specialists on the #Help forum. They're the most knowledgeable on the issues affecting you, and the best at assisting your needs.
DPS: Earlier this week, the Tower's sweeping robots worked hard to clean up all the Candy and Paper Scraps from the Tower. Yes, it did pretty much look like the house party clean up from Weird Science.
The removal of the spooky lights and sounds signifies that the Festival of the Lost event has officially ended. Guardians may have noticed a few items were removed/replaced in character Inventory. Any remaining Candy consumables, Rare (Blue) Masks and Gifts of the Lost have been converted into keepsake items. You can find a full breakdown of the keepsake items with this Help article. For those of you who "summoned all zombies to get down" or purchased any other Festival of the Lost Emote from Tess, you can reclaim these Emotes at any time from the Emote Collection.
We've noticed reports from Guardians that unclaimed Engrams are not being sent to the Postmaster upon leaving an Activity. These Engrams will only be recovered when you return to orbit. If you're in a Strike playlist, stay until the Mission Complete timer hits 0. Super Good Advice: get eyes on your Ship before switching characters or signing out of Destiny. This will ensure all eligible items can be safely recovered. Would you like to know more?
As of today, Xbox One users should receive a firmware update from Microsoft. After taking this update, you may be disconnected if you attempt to open another full-screen application while Destiny is running. If you're attempting to multitask applications while playing Destiny, using the Snap feature is recommended. Please read the following Help article for more information.
Movie Madness
The Creations page continues to exhibit the best Community-created content for your viewing pleasure. Every day, we see more Destiny art, comics, cosplay, and videos submitted to be put on display for all to see. Every Thursday we take a few of our favorite videos and feature them here on the BWU as Movie of the Week. The creators of the videos we choose will be rewarded with a special emblem to go along with their bragging rights. Give it up for this week's winners.
Movie of the Week: Too good to describe.
Honorable Mention: Raid Rock.
Honorable Mention: Guardians never say die.
Next week, we will have a new update for you as well as some more information for you about the upcoming December Update. 2015 is coming to a close, but Year 2 of Destiny is just getting started.
You'll also have DeeJ back to kick around. Let's give him hell.
