What about The Dark Tower?

It seems pretty clear to me that both the Thorn/Last Word story and the lore surrounding Forsaken is influenced a fair amount by The Dark Tower (which itself was heavily inspired by The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly), which is about a lone gunslinger that roams the wasteland (until he has to escort a boy - but still, not a whole group traveling through odd lands).

In fact, based on his trend of works alone, the Dreadnought may be a better fit. If not, well, always an exception to the rule, right?
