The value of the "We messed up" tour (Destiny)

That is all genuinely fascinating, so don't take this as me ignoring it all and being snarky, but . . .

You act like this is new. This is like the what, fifth or sixth time they've had to trot out the "Sorry, we fucked up. We know, we're listening, we're reversing all the bad decisions we've made in the last two years," thing. Bungie has done this more than literally any other studio I'm aware of. But, to be fair, Bungie is probably the only video game company I'm actually in touch with, as in I generally follow the news about their games and the studio in general, so maybe other live game studios are out there fucking up all the time and pissing off the people that play their games like I did Destiny.

I think the Marathon video felt pretty contrived, but I'm pretty cynical in most cases, but I don't think it was disingenuous either. Like, I'm sure those people are all excited for what they're making (and they should be, it's fucking cool), but it still felt they were putting on a show.

Content wise, I think it all looks cool. I'm still not sure it's going to work, as, so far, fighting the PvE enemies just isn't all that fun. They were designed to be annoyances during extraction matches, which basically just means bullet sponges that make a lot of noise that are only dangerous when the threat of actual human players coming to fuck you up is present. It does look like they're trying to change that with the few new enemies they showed, along with the concept art of other enemies that are apparently coming, so I'm at least interested.
