The value of the "We messed up" tour (Destiny)

That is all genuinely fascinating, so don't take this as me ignoring it all and being snarky, but . . .

You act like this is new. This is like the what, fifth or sixth time they've had to trot out the "Sorry, we fucked up. We know, we're listening, we're reversing all the bad decisions we've made in the last two years," thing. Bungie has done this more than literally any other studio I'm aware of. But, to be fair, Bungie is probably the only video game company I'm actually in touch with, as in I generally follow the news about their games and the studio in general, so maybe other live game studios are out there fucking up all the time and pissing off the people that play their games like I did Destiny.

The difference this time is that awful, horrible people like Pete Parsons are gone. Pretty much all of their awful management are gone. The studio got gutted. This apology tour and attempt at a turn around is much different from before, especially when continuing to exist as a studio is now the actual primary function. Attempting to turn around Destiny and Marathon, and actually meaning the words in the apology and putting them into action, is all that matters now for Bungie’s survival.

The Destiny hostage video delivery was bad, but this Marathon ViDoc at least sounded far more genuine. It’s also just part one. I look forward to part two and if any of that excitement of previous ViDocs can shine through while showing something substantial regarding Marathon’s future.
