Exclusive map/strike? (Destiny)

Yeah. This kinda stuff confuses me. Why would you want to alienate part (potentially 3/4) of your customer base? I get time exclusive content and I an live with it. But if I'm paying the same money as a PS4 user for a game why should I get less content?
