The problem is that you end up choosing to wear the most useful armor. In turn, this means that everyone tends to end up with very similar armor except for the exotics. I wish armor was a bit more cosmetic like how reach was and you instead purchased upgrades that affect how the armor behaves instead of how it looks.

Yep, this was my concern from the get go. It's one reason why I like the crucible, at least there's some variety and it doesn't hurt you too much if you choose to go that route.
