I think I can help you be even more of a monster (Destiny)

Congrats. I run shotgun as my special all the time in Crucible and noticed something you said and thought I'd add something that might make you more of a monster.

You mentioned specifically that you can't get close enough in Crucible for shotgun kills. This indicates to me that you're trying to attack with a shotgun offensively in the open, most likely in scenarios where the enemy lands shots on your first. Am I right?

Unless you're amazing at being invisible or you're a blink-and-shotty-them-in-the-head type player, trying to get shotgun kills by chasing down enemies is going to be a losing battle. I have no problem getting shotgun kills with the radar on for 2 reasons:

1) Let them come to you.

You can ask some of the people on here I've played with, Up North, Robot Chickens, but I get a lot of my shotgun kills by simply letting them come to me. The radar acts like a magnet, you see that red bar or red section and you start running for it (which is idiotic if you haven't first considered where that enemy is, what they might be running with, what's their strategy, etc). Putting yourself in a spot where they will have little time to react and having your gun aimed where they will enter the room at will pretty much guarantee kills. Small maps are great for this.

2) When you do run, know what gun you need in what spaces.

If I need to move position and I'm running, I select which gun I'm wielding based on the encounter I might run into. If it's in open space with distance between me and an enemy, I have my primary out. If I'm running through tight hallways where I'll more likely run into at point blank range, I'll have my shotty at the ready. Making this decision while on the move will definitely increase your K/D. While staying near cover is smart, sometimes you gotta move.

Hope this helps in your monsterhood. Good luck with the rest of the bounty.
