While I mostly agree that there should be a little grind, I see what you are saying. I think the problem is they do not want everyone to have everything a month after release then get bored months before the next. This is why they have these "barriers" to keep us from getting everything. The problem with these "barriers" is that they are really boring. Wait a week, get 250 of these, do the hokie pokie and turn yourself around.

The thing is, Bungie has already found many ways to create "barriers" that don't feel like mindless grinds. Some quests don't open up until you've hit the required rep level with one of the vendors, which is totally cool because you can usually gain rep just by playing the game however you like. Things like the arms day orders have built-in waiting periods too, which I think is a great solution. Helps space things out without making the player feel like they need to spend time doing something they don't want to do in order to get the thing they want to use.
