Gamasutra brought attention to a press release from middleware company SpeedTree about how their software is helping to spruce up Bungie's new game:

Destiny, Bungie’s highly anticipated mythic science-fiction action universe, will integrate SpeedTree® for Games into its futuristic worlds to enhance one of the title’s artistic themes of nature ascending over mankind’s lost worlds.

Stumped? This tech is pretty poplar - it's appeared in games like Battlefield 3 and Halo 4, as well as movies like Avatar and Life of Pi! (Trunks, Xenos.)
