This sucks, and I'm not approving that people got laid off, but firing someone is not stealing from them.
Nobody is being fired for cause. That's the difference. They are literally decimating the company roster to save money.
Let's say you qualify for a pension in a month, and oops you're laid off so now you don't get one. I'd say the company stole that from you.
