If I recall correctly, she also had a big part in crafting the logos and covers of Oni onwards (among a lot of other work). It blows my mind to think a company would lay off the person who helped create the iconic visuals associated directly with the success of your company's history. Covers and logos are the things you see every time you boot up a game. She was integral to that. The folks in charge likely have to walk by covers framed on their walls of Lorraine's work and think "Yeah, we fired that artist."
Pixar laid off Galyn Susman, who is literally responsible for saving Toy Story 2 after some dummy deleted every copy Pixar had. Companies are not loyal. Companies are not your friend.
