IGN dropped it's article for today, and it's a doozy! Four new videos showing off Control, a new map called Endless Vale, Sentinel Titan, and Voidwalker Warlock. You can go to their site to check them out there, or I've embedded the videos below.
Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy sat down with IGN to talk about what drove them when building a sequel for Destiny - it's an interesting pair of discussions, and should help people who weren't sure whether Destiny 2 was going to be more of the same, or a course change. Thanks to kidtsunami for pointing it out!
Today, Bungie not only gave us a better look at Ghaul, but for those on the Playstation side wondering what "greatness awaits" when the game launches on September 6th, a trailer featuring the first wave of exclusive content also dropped. Check it out!
A few days ago, bluerunner pointed out a pretty amazing exploration video - reddit's djxyz0 announced that he'd successfully reached Atheon's throne room from Patrol. It's a long video (which probably explains its absence from this week's update over at Bungie.net)... but if you like exploration, it's inspiring. Give it a watch, and see what 2 years of dedication can bring you!
The Bungie Store has also received a refreshed stock of loot that was available at PAX, so get while the getting's good!
Wondering what new content is coming to a PS4 near you with the launch of Rise of Iron? Sony has released a trailer for the Playstation exclusives included in the upcoming expansion (as well as the Collection bundle). The Mercury aesthetics never get old, and Icarus sure looks... Sublime. Only three days left, Guardians!
Bungie appears to have launched an ARG this afternoon to get the community buzzing in preparation for Rise of Iron.
There is too much information to post all of it here, but if you want to jump down the rabbit hole with the rest of us, you'll probably want to start with owlsector.bungie.net (the official website), one of the two threads that have popped up [so far] right here on DBO, or if you're really desperate you could head over to the Destiny Subreddit Megathread.
Have fun contracting infections!!
Saladin has an axe to grind when an old foe returns. Take a break from Private Matches to check out the launch trailer for Rise of Iron, which drops in less than a week!
Remember those awesome Titan figures by 3A? Well they are officially showing off the Warlock and Hunter figures, which go on sale this week and the 21st respectively! Like before there will be three different versions depending on where you purchase it from (my favorite is the Bungie Store Edition shown below). Go check out their posts about them to see more pictures and to drop $200 for one!
After a short, bug-induced absence, Trials of Osiris returns to Destiny! Bungie will be monitoring the matchmaking performance, and assuming that all goes well, Iron Banner may also make a return on Tuesday (June 28th, 10AM PST), so keep your fingers crossed!
For a full rundown of the Trials and Iron Banner info, check out the article over on Bnet.
Despite Rise of Iron not being on the show floor at E3 this year, some Bungie folks still made the pilgrimage to Los Angeles for the week and are doing interviews. Geoff Keighley sat down with Chris Barrett and chatted a bit about the expansion:
The Rise of Iron has officially been announced, and there is a lot to get excited about! New Raid, new Strike, new zone, and cyborg Fallen enemies! Watch the trailer below, or visit the official site for more details. Oh did I mention Gjallahorn is coming back?
Ever wanted to know what goes into making one of Destiny's Crucible maps? World Artists Mick Buckmiller, Coolie Calihan, and Adam Williams join DeeJ for this week's Bungie Ride Along to help answer some of those questions!
Edit: This is available as a Twitch archive, now. (Thanks, CyberKN.)
Yesterday, Bungie hosted another Ride-Along - this time around, DeeJ, Designer Brendan Thorne and Writer Jill Scharr comment on a King's Fall Raid run, as played by 6 other devs. (A sad goodbye to nearly the entire team; their job was to complete the raid without dying, on penalty of job loss for failure... and with the exception of Chase Christian (and Brandon Bjarnason, technically, since his death occurred after Oryx's death), all of them died at least once, with Cozmo_BNG adding a mind-boggling 4 casualties to the total.) If you're not a big Raider, this is a really useful demonstration of techniques and routes... and even if you DO raid a lot, you'll likely see things that make you reconsider your preferred practices, and you'll learn things you didn't know about the lore behind the encounters. It will be available on YouTube eventually, but you can watch the archived stream on Twitch right now. Check this out - a fun watch!
Update: Looks like it's already up!
Michael Forgey worked for Bungie as a producer until he passed away due to cancer. Bungie (and other studios) are auctioning off some signed, rare memorabilia on eBay to help support his family. So if you have some money, want some cool things, and want to give to a good cause, you can see what's up for grabs here.
Confused about how reward packages will change on April 12? DeeJ has posted a detailed explanation of each faction's reward packages (and how much easier it will be to level them up). Give it a read, and go make a name for yourself!
Good news for iPad owners; Bungie has updated the Destiny Companion App with a ton of new features, and lots of pretty bells and whistles. Swing by B.net for a full accounting, or just visit the iTunes store for a free download! (Works with the iPhone and the iPod Touch, as well, but it shines brightest on the iPad.)
Straight from Bungie's Creations page, Cozmo has singled out Kob One's artwork for this week's excellent Community Focus. Kob One comes off as a real down-to-earth Guardian who understands the Titan struggle, so check out his thoughts and artwork!
