(Thanks, CyberKN!)
A wild repairman appeared in my office. He's gone now. Let's play catch-up!
Bungie detailed a long list of tweaks coming to your weapons in Feburary. And when I say detailed, I mean it. There's numbers, stats, and graphs to fill you in on the technical side of things as you read about your favorite weapon getting nerfed or the weapon you wanted to like getting a boost. The biggest changes come in the form of Pulse Rifles and Shotguns getting a lot of love! There's already a big thread discussing the update here. (Thanks JDQuackers!)
One of B.Org's Senior Field Correspondents, Hedgem0ny, Tweets a lot of great Destiny fanart made by a number of individuals from across the globe.. Here's a blatantly-shameful stalking of some of his recent aggregations:
by Ayatori0
Sword of Crota replica by ProfessorCaTPardus and for sale on Etsy.
Warlock 3D model by martynball - more shots on his DeviantArt.
Last, but not least, DestiPonies by Arteses-Canvas!
The new update is rolling out soon and the specifics are already laid down at Bungie.Net. The patch notes just keep going; there's fixes and improvements for basically every aspect of the game - even the Orbit screens! I was going to highlight the big announcements like Fireteam Voice Chat, but there's just too many neat little things, like shader previews and more. Go read and enjoy some self-edification! Kidtsunami was first to talk about it on our forum.
You aren't going crazy, the Bungie Weekly Thursdate Update came out on a Thursday this week! Expect the Update Thupdate every Thursday from here on out! Curious about Bungie's future plans for Iron Banner? Wondering how voice chat will work in matchmaking? Well you're in luck! Go read and find out more! (And wonder at the surprise coming next week).
The Destiny Dev Team posted the patch notes for the Destiny update going live tomorrow on Bungie.Net. This one's major adjustments are weapon balance, with the shotgun losing range and the auto rifle losing a few nuances of effectiveness (which hopefully leads towards some more weapon variety in matches!), but there's more fixes in there, too. Update: It's now in our patch notes archive.
Hedge is apparently the acting cryptarch of Destiny fanart through his Twitter. When a game is first announced, you see a lot of fanart inspired by what its art direction brings to the table. Now when a game launches, you get to see a slightly different breed of fanart created by personal experiences with the game, which is always fun! Maybe Sundays should just become a fanart roundup day?

The Penny Arcade Expo has started, and I'm sitting here watching a User Research panel while grasping at every shred of internet connectivity I can find. If you're also in the Seattle area this weekend, join me and a few dozen of my friends for DBO's 2014 PAX Prime meetup at 8:00 PM on Saturday over at Garage Billiards. You can find more details on the bowling, billiards, and beers here on the forum. Hope to see some of you there!
Well, it looks like we, as a team, are falling down on the job these days; there's been quite a bit of Destiny news released since Monday, but nobody's found time to keep our front-page readers informed. For this, I apologize. Let's see if we can quickly bullet-point the stuff that's been mentioned...
Go read! (It's local, too.)
A quick roundup of other info drops from around the web:
reddit user FutureWarCult has collected screenshots from all the articles - you can scroll through them here. Lots of comments, as well. In the same vein, INSANEdrive found a native Russian speaker to translate some of the visible text in the shots.
The Guardian posted their review of the time they spent in Bellevue recently - it's full of fun tidbits. (Lots of them have been seen in other reviews - but some are unique.) It's pretty hefty, overall.
Gamespot put up a piece discussing the lack of a PC option for Destiny (at least at launch), and the reasons behind this decision. Sort of nice to see an honest discussion of what ISN'T happening - usually, those are made impossible by marketing realities.
The Know (a gaming info channel from Rooster Teeth) has some of the choice bits about how characters and classes work, as the start of their week-long coverage of Destiny.
roland let us know that tonight's Guardian Radio will feature DeeJ, live, on the stream - be sure to listen in! (It kicks off in less than an hour, so clear your schedule.)
For the most part, these links came from Xenos. One of these days, he'll fire me. Until then, I'll keep telling you what he finds.
Yesterday's Bungie Weekly Update was a doozy - no real details, but they're in bug-squashing mode, which is exciting! (There are pictures. Not of bugs, you sicko.) There are also more pics of the Fallen Captain cake that Dave Candland received a few days ago. And some great questions and answers in the Mailsack. What are you waiting for? (We have a copy here, too, of course.)
The Bungie Weekly Update is live, with a first-hand account by DeeJ of how deliciously the Destiny experience is coming along. Take in some tantalizing impressions and stick around for a few juicy tidbits in the Mail Sack, giving some solid indications on the nature of PvP and why you'll want to experience what each flavor of Guardian has to offer. (Don't forget, there's always a local version, too.)
This week's Bungie Update is live now - it contains some reassurances, some answers that you may or may not appreciate, and a new screenshot. You might even learn something about a reveal you thought you understood. You can read it on Bungie.net (thanks, Xenos), or here on DBO, in our Weekly Update Archive. Check it out!
Bungie's community team visited Europe this week - but they almost didn't make it. Go read the trials and tribulations in the latest Bungie Weekly Update! (It's in our Weekly Update Archive, as well, if you need it for any reason.) Thanks, Xenos.
Bungie has posted their latest Weekly Update - and it's absolutely worth a read. There are intriguing little hints, both in the main writeup and in the answers to the Mail Sack questions... but there's also a fantastic look back at the recent Bungie Pentathlon. Go read. (It's in our Weekly Update Archive, as well, if you need that.) Thanks, Xenos.
If you swing by Bungie.net and read the latest Bungie Weekly Update, you'll realize a new group of people were in the studio this week, tasting the fruit of the Destiny vine - should we expect another round of articles soon? (There are also many, many fan-asked questions that get answers, some substantial, some not so much, all fun to read.) Go on by - or read our local version, if you prefer. Either way... read. Thanks, GrimBrother IV.
Destiny Updates published a video that covers the January Bungie podcast - he breaks down all the competitive multiplayer info that was divulged in the podcast and provides some really interesting insight into what he thinks all this means. Check it out!
DeeJ stopped by to announce a new Bungie Weekly Update - it's exciting. As he says, it's the best one in weeks! (That's funny because there hasn't been one in weeks. Geddit?) Go read it. It'll remind you how to get into the Beta program, and it'll teach you a little bit about The Director. And some other stuff.) As always, you can read (and search) it locally, as well as on B.net.
