Today's Bungie Weekly Update focuses on a halloween costume that involves a gorgeous modeled Thorn (unlike the one created by Karin Olava, this one was actually 3D-printed from in-game assets - one of the benefits of working at Bungie)... and it has some interesting fan questions (with some squirrely answers) in the week's mail sack. If you'd rather, you can read it in our Weekly Update Archive. Go appreciate it! And appreciate Xenos, who keeps on top of all of this stuff.
In keeping with standard Friday traditions, Bungie has posted the latest Bungie Weekly Update - it reiterates the newly-announced release date, it reminds people of the latest issue of Game Informer (chock-full of Destiny info), and it answers some useful questions. It even provides the audio for a flaming bung-hole. (That might not be as dirty as it sounds.) Go give it a read: either on Bungie.net or in our own Weekly Update Archive!
Just as DeeJ, Urk, and the rest of the Bungie away team returns home from overseas, so to does the Bungie Weekly Update! After a brief recap of their jet-setting adventures, we get one last look at the Moon before that destination goes dark, with specific focus on the Accelerator environment we saw in the original Grognok demo and more recently heard about on last week's podcast. The Halloween pumpkin carving entires get some love, too, and even a couple Mail Sack questions get answered!
And, of course, the update is available in our local archive should you wish to read it over here.
Destiny Updates has taken his time with The Moon trailer from earlier this month, and it paid off. I learned a few things, that's for sure.
Thanks for posting it on on our forums, Mr. Updates.
The new Bungie Weekly Update is up! This week covers Dave Dunn's trip to Australia, another in-house character reset (and the new features that come with it), and gives us a glimpse at the Weekend Champion phenomenon that has been making its way through Twitter for the last few weeks. Go check it out! (Thanks, Kermit!) [edit: Now that there are two of these, it's probably time to unveil our Weekly Update Archive - if you've been with us for a few years, you might recognize some of the code as recycled from the Halo BWU Archives. What can I say? We're lazy. It's okay, though, because this gives you an easy way to find Weekly Update tidbits that stick in your brain, down the road, since it's searchable.]
After several years of silence, the Bungie Weekly Update has returned! DeeJ talks a bit about the Beta and we get a great behind-the-scenes look at some of the environment development for the Moon featured in this week's trailer. Oh, and there are some Beta codes, but I'm sure those disappeared before I finished typing this. There's only one way to find out, though!
Destiny Updates took his time and broke down the Bungie Podcast - his summary boils down the hourlong discussion to an 11 minute series of highlights. As always, he's done a fantastic job of paying close attention and teasing interesting tidbits from Bungie's intentionally vague hints, tying together older info with new content. Go give it a watch!
Destiny Updates continues their in-depth analysis with their microscope aimed at yesterday's Community Thank You video. Teleporting, energy knives, and more insanity. I feel like we've seen more of how Destiny really plays in yesterday's quick glimpse than ever before.
As DBO and HBO slowly returns to its usual livelihood, we'll start to see plenty of write-ups and photos of the always-fantastic experience that PAX is. Bungie has started an album on their Facebook page showing off some of the fans they rallied this weekend. The keen-sighted might recognize our own nscuDuncan in a few of them, as well as some of the Hunter cosplay we mentioned this weekend.
(Bungie also picked up an exclusive Mars Curiosity Hot Weels. Besides wanting one myself, I got to love whenever Bungie connects their own inspiring space exploration to the real thing.)
A few days ago, Bungie rolled out a new update for their Mobile App. Android users have already been hit with it (you now have access to Bungie.Net Forums and Groups), while iOS users will be getting another upgrade soon. Bungie Mobile keeps slowly building - what will it be like when Destiny finally hits?
Personally, I'm imagining Guardians taking selfies in their bathrooms and throwing instagram filters on their photos of the Venus Gardens...but I think I might be wrong.
PAX is only a week away - are you going? DBO's first official PAX dinner will be at Lunchbox Laboratory on Saturday, August 31st from 7:00pm to 11:00 pm. Check out this forum post for the full list of details, then head over to this thread to discuss the event. See you there!
Will you be in the Seattle area during PAX Prime next month? Want to meet up with some of your fellow DBO community members? I've put together a short questionnaire to help us plan a Public Event or two, so check out the details in this thread, then follow this link to take the survey. See you soon!
The Electronic Entertainment Expo isn't all fun and games. Well, maybe it's all fun - but it isn't all about the games. I'm risking my life telling you this, but there is a secret buried deep within the Los Angeles Convention Center, a secret that four members of the DBO admin team were able to discover with the help of a few friends. Attached is a 3,300 word exposé that reveals the truth about gaming events, conveniently disguised as a rambling collection of stories from my summer trip to E3. I hate to be a whistleblower, but it's only a matter of time before the next major event takes place and the sooner we get word out the better. Good luck.
Destiny Updates stopped by our forum to announce his analysis of the E3 Gameplay Trailer - he walks through the trailer and points out all sorts of details you may have missed (I know I certainly missed a few). Go watch - and see what speculation inspires YOUR imagination!
Destiny Updates stopped in to announce an analysis of the Destiny weapon/armor information screens, as shown at E3. Pretty nice rundown - check it out, you may have missed some of this!
Greenskull put together a Destiny E3 recap video - if you need to catch up on Destiny news then this is worth checking out.
Destiny Updates dropped by the forum to let us know that he's put together a roundup video covering pretty much everything we learned about Destiny from E3. Turns out there was quite a bit!
Greenskull posted a Destiny news video that covers the recent live action trailer as well as the latest mailsack. He also takes a moment to talk about Destiny on Xbox One. Check it out! (Thanks to Chewbaccawakka for letting us know.)
Bungie Mobile App users were recently greeted with a bug fix update for Android and iOS devices - some users discovered that they now had the ability to read and post on the Bungie.net forums directly from the app. According to DeeJ, a small group of frequent forum users have been granted access to the test version of the mobile Bungie.net forums. Don't worry, the update will continue to rollout to more users, eventually. Thanks, Xenos.
Ready Up Live's Greenskull posted a recap of the last two mail sacks and shares his thoughts on the May 21st Xbox Reveal.
