"Critically examine"? As Inigo Montoya would say... (Destiny)

Ok, wrong quote (maybe) but honestly Cody. If someone were to ask you to critically examine a film and you made a serious effort to do so, would you watch the film and look at its acting and direction and themes and intent and history... or would you just read the very first short initial press release declaring its existence then tell them the film sucked?

Not an applicable metaphor. A better example would be if there was a press release regarding a director's cut of a film I have already seen. If the director's cut described changes that were patently stupid, it would be fair to evaluate it only on having seen the original version.

But you said:

I think it's constructive to critically examine just what kind of 'content' these updates and the microtransaction money are providing.

And to do that, do you plan on playing the content? No. Do you plan on reading the articles about or watching the videos about the additions and changes? Apparently not, since you are commenting on them already.

Amusingly and frighteningly, your version of a critical examination is: "Read the press release and declare the changes patently stupid."
