The heroic strike changes make me sad (Destiny)

If you can do a Heroic Strike in 15 minutes, what’s the point? We were at the point previously where Heroic strikes might as well have just been normal strikes. I think we’ll probably get close to that again when we’re at or beyond the appropriate level.

I like challenging content, and I welcome more of it. The Heroic strikes now are unfortunately just beyond the soft cap wall. I don’t think we’d be having such a hard time if that wasn’t true.

15 minutes was probably wrong. I just know that we would often play together and knock out the weekly milestone in a little over an hour. So to answer your question, what's the point? To me, playing a strike in about 20 minutes was really fun. There were cool encounters and there was a power fantasy where I was a strong character able to take on dozens of enemies. Plus, trading in an hour for a weekly milestone seemed like a fair tradeoff to me.

My experience last night didn't seem challenging so much as unfair. It is different than D1 where you could hang back and stay safe--a lot of the bosses in D2 don't let you hide. Overall, I think that is better, but sometimes boss attacks just feel cheap.

The power fantasy was gone because we were getting crushed repeatedly, and for the most part, I could only take out a single enemy at a time.

It just feels like they double-dipped on the difficulty by making it harder to level up AND making the strikes themselves harder.

Reading these other threads, it sounds like a lot of people who didn't even like strikes before like them now that they're harder--but isn't that what the nightfalls were for? Harder strikes? One of the main reasons I posted this is because a lot of people are saying they like the difficulty, but I wanted to offer a dissenting voice.
