The Darkness like the Flood? (Destiny)

If anything, it strikes me more akin to the Armies of the Dark/the Leveler from Bungie's 'Myth' series. Both employ an army of myriad hostile creatures, both end a golden age (in the case of the Leveler, repeatedly), both have a hostile, linked relationship with a foe (Traveler/hero that defeats the Leveler is fated to become the Leveler 1000 years later, etc.)

That, and both are laying siege to a last city at the start of their respective games (Last City/Madrigal).

Destiny was conceptualized as a fantasy game, so it makes sense that they would borrow from Myth.
