Bounties not working? (Destiny)

Last night I thought I was going after two bounties, and neither worked. One was for a mission on Mars, but it's possible I chose the wrong one. Then I went after Askor on Venus, and I made sure that was right one. Didn't get either bounty. Maybe there's a common mistake I'm making?

The only requirement is you have to have heroic on, which means you can't play at the default difficulty, you have at least crank it up one. I also had the problem of running Queen's Wrath missions, hitting the right one and not getting the bounty... only to realize the heroic modifier isn't on with the Queen's Wrath missions.
