Bounties not working? (Destiny)

Did you actually kill the boss? I tried to get the Sepiks Prime Bounty a couple days ago but because I was mopping up Fallen when he was killed, I didn't get the Bounty.
I guess it makes it harder so you can't just coast.
Evidently not, but it's not like I didn't contribute mightily to his downfall. (See my post above yours.) Timing matters.
The trouble is when you get killed or swarmed by enemies shortly before the boss is killed.
