PvE -> PvP (Destiny)

I almost exclusively play PvE, but I'm very interested in Trials of Osiris. While my scout rifles serve me well in PvE, I'm at a bit of a loss when selecting weapons for Crucible.

So, limiting weapon selection to weapons you can obtain in PvE: Raid weapons, PvE vendor weapons, and Exotics, what weapons would you PvP aficionados recommend for Trials of Osiris, which they have stated features some form of Iron Banner's "power matters"?

I've had some success with Red Death, but that locks down my Exotic and then I'm left with meh for my secondary and heavy.

In my experience, one of the bigger differences between PvE and PvP is the usefulness of Exotic primaries vs Exotic special/heavy weapons. I don't think its an exaggeration to say that 95% of the players I've seen in the Iron Banner this week are using Exotic Primary weapons.

Thorn, Hawkmoon, Red Death, Last Word, Mythoclast, and the occasional Suros or Bad Juju. These weapons seem to stand head and shoulders above all the others.

That said, I've always been a big proponent of the importance of how a weapon "feels" to a player. If there's a legendary hand canon, pulse rifle, or scout rifle that you really enjoy the feel of, you can do just fine. But in terms of potential time to kill, you will be at a disadvantage.

I've also had really good luck with Three Little Words. It has the extra precision damage with body shots, high caliber rounds, and third eye. It can kill in two bursts. It's a really good legendary weapon.

Here, have some mildly decent gameplay:
