You could pick which synth type to use in the inventory. This would free up the D pad for more emotes.

That would work, too, as synths are really the only thing you need to use in the middle of combat.

But that's why I was suggesting mapping it to the d-pad, but only when the Ghost menu is up. The rest of the time would just be for emotes as usual.

I do like idea of a long press on the d-pad for consumables. Normal press for emotes, hold for three seconds to use a consumable.
