All you really need is to have 4 equitable emote slots, one for each directions, as opposed to the one now.

Yup. Definitely said that (and showed it) in the video.
And the thing is that apparently the D-Pad was re-mappable since before the Alpha, but Bungie hasn't given players this freedom yet for whatever reason...
