Guess there is never a need to spend real money on Destiny again if I can just get those items as a reward later on.

That said, I think you're right about it feeling insulting for those who spent real money on them. Oh well. Live and learn. Hopefully they never buy any microtransactions again. But then again, as a tech early adopter, I don't feel bad when my $250 item goes on sale for $150 3 months later. I paid to have it first.
