from what I understand, there will be no more paid DLC. Just these micro-transactions that support the live-team that is maintaining Destiny.
So you release these cool in-game items that are exclusive to a micro-transaction of purchasing some silver (even giving you that first taste for free). Then you start giving those same items away for free in reward packages. So now, they have set a precedent of giving away items you have paid for previously.
If they want to continue to bring in money to support their staff and game, then these items should have stayed exactly what they were. Because now that I can reasonably expect to get these items in the future for free (though slower and RNG based) I now have no reason to give Bungie money to continue to support the game.
