Timed, limited content, is good for Destiny (Destiny)

Someone on Reddit datamined info on the upcoming Crimson Days event, which looks like it'll feature a bunch of new Eververse content:

The rumors are True. Crimson Days is coming back. It won't be the same as last year. We will talk about how it is changing in the blog update on Thursday.

We didn't have a Crimson Days event last year, did we?
Anyway, the one time we did have a Crimson Days event, it was a lot of fun. Glad to see that They're Listening!

Listening to what, exactly?

I know a lot of folks don't like it, but I think that timed content, if truly limited, does make the loot in Destiny carry more weight and stand out as unique, something that I feel it doesn't currently do well.

I think that can apply to gear and events.

Like, it's another way to have your gear "tell a story", another way to show off and show that "you were there" when you could get it.

(How that all ties into Eververse, well, then it can get muddy and you can all fill those blanks in yourselves)

Yes, I know that stinks for people who might miss an event due to work\school\life.

Yes, I know it's a bit of an F-U to the lunatic completionists out there.

Just musing out loud.

I think timed events can be great, I just wish there were way more of them, especially if the event is going to consist of something as minor as a different PvP playlist and some reskinned loot. A frequent rotation of PvP and/or PvE events would spice things up a bit, and create more insentive to come back in a regular basis IMO.
