To have fun? (Destiny)

I think he means that having limited time events that don’t actually change anything about the game besides the gear you’re earning (Iron Banner, Faction Rally) isn’t exactly fun. Lots of players don’t like the current Crucible, and adding some slightly different gear to the loot pool for a week isn’t going to change that. Something like Mayhem certainly did and was tons of fun. I don’t particularly like doubles, but at least it’s a change of pace. Limited time loot tables isn’t fun or interesting and actually feels incredibly lazy.

I would totally understand his feelings if the event wasn't free. But I also didn't hear him say anything about The Dawning?

I don't particularly like crucible either, but I feel like people are complaining (might not be the best word but it's all I got) more about special events that happened in D1 and now are happening in D2 just because it's D2.

I mean what do people want from Bungie? More content that you can play and do stuff with? That's called a DLC and it's already slated to come out. Until then, have fun with these mini events or don't and have fun someplace else. But don't question the events meaning. I'm going to enjoy the event for what I get out of it. I suggest y'all do the same. And if you get nothing out of it then go someplace else to have fun.

P.S. I'm sorry if this seems a bit in your face, but I'm started to get sick of Bungie Bashers. I want to just have fun with Destiny for what it is: Fun, glorious, the faults and everything in between.

To me, it’s just kinda a symptom of what some of us see as a larger issue; An in-game “event” that actually isn’t an event at all, just more eververse stuff we can buy (or not). The entire point of special events in a game like Destiny is to give players something to get excited about and/or a fun reason to come back to the game. When an event consists of nothing but Eververse loot, that tells me that Bungie thinks and/or wants Eververse to be the thing we’re excited about.

Also, I know I’ve said this before, but the whole “what do you expect for a free event” argument needs to just stop. That’s a line of thought that can be used to justify anything. I want good content. If that means waiting longer and paying for it when it arrives, that’s totally cool! But work IS going into this event. Bungie is devoting resources to it. They’re going to promote it and hype it and all that. It disappoints me to see that kind of buildup and hype around something that is so far away from what the community actually wants, or the game actually needs.

I’m all for saying “Destiny 2 is what it is... either enjoy it for what it is or play something else.” I think that’s a great way to approach any game, really. But Bungie doesn’t approach the game that way... at least they say they don’t. So in the spirit of constructive criticism, any time Bungie does an Eververse-driven event like this, I will respectfully say that as a fan of Destiny and a fan of Bungie, I think this kind of content does more harm than good and falls far short of what I expect from a studio like Bungie.

* For the record, I’m fully prepared to eat crow on all of this if it turns out that there’s more to this event than we currently know.
