Sucker: Man, I really needed those materials for my sweet new weapon.

...heads back to Gamestop....

Sucker: I'd like to trade these Marks in for some materials.

Gamestop: No Problem, Sucker! We'll give you 20 Materials for 10 Marks.

People who traded Materials for rep really were suckers... You could hop into the Crucible and make more rep in 10 minutes than an hour's worth of grinding for materials... Heck, you didn't even have to win...
