Any idea if I can use this with my chat headset*, or does it mute the game audio assuming you want to hear the game through headphones?

*which is itself falling apart. When dies I don't know what I will do. Why am I the only gamer who wants a quality chat headset but does not want a headband or to block out my good speaker system? I have even less understanding of why wireless chat headsets seem to be taking a break for this generation of consoles.
