Thoughts on April Update? *now with edit* (Destiny)

Many of the boss fights end up playing the same way as well, with the added objective of shooting the boss from the corner and dodging the boss' fire while you run around the edges. Again, that's all fine, but it just doesn't have the depth to make it as replayable as the primary end game activity needs to be, IMO.

And what are the raid boss fights? Atheon was all about doing some teamworky mechanics, then getting into place in the middle and doing damage.
Crota was all about doing some teamworky mechanics then getting in the middle and doing damage,
Warpriest, Golgoroth, sisters, and Oryx are all about getting in the middle and doing damage after some teamworky mechanics.

While I do feel the bosses are BY FAR the best part about PoE, I don't think they are anywhere close to the challenge presented by the raid bosses. And that's fine. Not everything in the game needs to be the ultra-demanding activity that the raid bosses are. But an end-game activity needs to be highly replayable. The PoE bosses just aren't interesting enough, IMO. Once I've beaten them once or twice, that's it. I've got it down. We spent months iterating on the Templar or Crota, learning new tricks, combos and techniques to beat the encounter more efficiently and effectively. THAT is the kind of depth an end-game activity needs, and PoE in year 1 didn't have it.

I'm hoping the new PoE Challenges solve some of my problems with the mode... it certainly sounds like they have some potential to be very cool.

At least with Skolas you could damage him at will, while making a strategy about movement, objectives, and poison exchange.

I actually really like the Skolas fight. It's the 2-3 hours of monotonous grind leading up to it that were the problem. Again, this new PoE looks to improve somewhat thanks to checkpoints.

Sure it wasn't the Firefight that we had hoped for, but it was a pretty unique challenge with good rewards in its day.

... which rewards are you thinking of? I remember the PoE weapons being severely outclassed by the other raid weapons and the trials gear. Unless I'm forgetting something.

Lord of Wolves? Queenbreaker's Bow? and the Queen's sniper was really high impact, outclassed only by Black Hammer and Efrideet's Spear.
Plus, the Armor was high level for its time, and the highest PvE gear available.
Plus, the Etheric Light rewards were pretty vital.

Once I got into playing Trials, I saw absolutely no reason to play PoE in terms of gear acquisition. Trails dropped more etheric light in way less time, and the weapons were better for PvE as well as PvP. I just personally didn't like the look of the PoE armor either, so I didn't want to collect any of it.
