There are people paid to make sure it's as much of a quality experience as possible for all who choose to participate.

Then those people are not doing their jobs correctly. Everyone has the best experience if everybody gets the same thing when they buy the game, and can fully explore said game through systems designed around fun rather than exploitation or grinding, without paying any more money.
