That's probably it. The Marketing team is sitting in a damp basement wringing their hands and cackling at the idea if you getting screwed over as they shower themselves in gold doubloons.

They're not screwing over anyone. This gun, like all destiny pre-order items to date, will have no real impact on the game. And if it does have an impact, it will be available to non pre-orderers, too. And if it's not available to non pre-orderers, too, there will be such a public outcry that they'll apologize and do something about it.

For some reason, we are far more tolerant of console exclusive content being game-changing than we are of pre-order content being significant. Personally, I think neither should be impactful.
