Except its not working. I'm not basing my preorder on this new info because I preordered weeks and weeks ago. They missed out on their chance to influence me...

Because you are (and me too in this instance) an early adopter. You'll buy it asap no matter what. As time gets closer to release you'll see more and more of these deals trying to snag the holdouts.
