What makes Cayde special other than a penchant for jokes and quips?

When the city fell, Ikora flew off to pout, Zavala wasn't going to do anything without an army at his side, but Cayde was willing to immediately sacrifice himself to kill Ghaul. He was going to teleport straight in and shoot him without having his light. That was a one way trip. Ghaul would be dead, but Cayde would be right in the middle of the Red Legion without a way out or a way to revive. For all his talk, he's the most selfless and brave of the Vanguard.
