Because Bungie needs to steal material about crazy AI's (Destiny)

Sammy despises the voicework for her, while I'm not a fan of the fact that she is a 1:1 carbon copy of Warframe's Ordis (thousand+ year-old shipboard AI with a split cheerful/sarcastic personality that gives your character a distinct title). Yes, I'm always asking Bungie to learn from DE, but I didn't mean that they should steal their characters wholesale. What's next, a villain driven by jealousy that wants to steal the players' powers for his own twisted use? Oh wait...

I think Failsafe's lines would have worked better if the voice actor had a more naturally sarcastic voice, since it comes off as super-forced.

Okay, normally I would agree with you Korny or at least give you the benefit of the doubt in regards to Warframe (because I hadn't played it).

I put a solid 80-100 hours into it before Destiny 2 came out and so now I understand everything you have said in regards to it. I can now comment :P

While I understand that both AI's have similar cheerful/sarcastic split personalities, they aren't exactly very similar other than that in my mind. One, Failsafe is plot that is integral to the story line. Ordis is your ships malfunctioning AI that quips at you every so often. And if I might say so, Ordis got old fast.

And that would be a fair assessment, if you haven't done any of the game's quests (and people can put hundreds of hours into the game before even doing any of the story quests, so it wouldn't be your fault).
Ordis has a major role in the game, and not just because he's the second character that you meet in the game. He plays a major role in a number of quests (such as The Jordas Precept, and The New Strange) and even has a pretty dark backstory that explains his split personality (he was once known as "The Beast of Bones"), and the damage he has received over time makes it difficult to suppress this persona, which is told through fragments that you find throughout the worlds, so it's not just a gimmick like Failsafe is.

I also don't see how Failsafe as a character is "integral to the story line". She could easily be cut out and her impact on the story can easily be assigned to other things that have nothing to do with her as a character. She essentially just exists as a Faction representative on Nessus, comic relief, and nothing more, which is also another reason that her character just feels forced and poorly implemented. And yeah, I've done the adventure that fleshes her out a little more, but it only serves to make her more of an incidental character than anyone of importance.

As for stealing... I almost laughed when you mentioned that Bungie stole the idea of a split personality AI. You do realize that Bungie basically created and perfected the idea of crazy AI in game plot right?

Crazy AI is one thing, a split friendly/sarcastic personality is another.
