Yep, I think you’re right.

It’s not exactly the same as D1 though—when a player cracks open the Heavy crate, other players have a window of time to interact with it to get their Heavy ammo.

I read “other players” as “other team” for some reason the first time.

Your original interpretation might make the heavy spawn pretty interesting, though. Fight to be able to open the heavy crate, then try to hold the area to prevent the opposing team from getting any :)
