Do we know yet why we aren't the center of the universe? (Destiny)

I wondering if this is a plot hole, requires suspension of belief, or I've missed the grimoire card for it.

In the cosmic scheme of things, we know that the traveler came, and eventually we met other species (be they living, dead, or deactivated). Eventually the "darkness" came, and we were introduced to those that we would call enemy. Now it seems to me and my ego that everyone should be seeing the Sol system as the center of the galaxy. Yet we have to beat up on kids and scouts to get anyone's attention. What gives?

In the case of the Fallen, well, okay, they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. We aren't expecting any sort of Fallen high command to come walzing into the system because their civ has already been destroyed.

But how about the Cabal? The Cabal are supposed to be an unstoppable army, "destroying entire planets" when they need to, and yet we only get a few outposts? Where is the Cabal Death Star and why don't they care about us?

And the Hive, where apparently having your kid take a whack at the Traveler and and his band of merry Guardians is a good galactic domination strategy. I would have thought the Traveler chilling all docile like over our planet would have been reason to swing by and say hello. Instead he let's his kid fail not once, but TWICE.

The Vex make a little more sense if only because most times they actually make no sense at all. We also faced the Vex "first" as far as our personal guardian is concerned, so in a way they have been "dealt with" (though anyone who thinks that is crazier than Eris). We're also a lot less sure about their motivations and methods, so perhaps they already know they beat us and just don't need a show of force. Maybe they now worship us, since that'd be the only logical conclusion to us bitch slapping their god.

So, what exactly is out there in the universe that is soooooo much more interesting than the Travel, and that has all the other powerful (but literally not fallen) races distracted? Perhaps the ones we've faced so far are breaking rank, and not following the Darkness Master Plan™? Perhaps we really don't rate in the scheme of things, and the Traveler is simply the equivalent of a door-to-door salesmen entering an Amish community?

Given any other similar artifact associated with an ancient race, be it a Vorlon mothership, jewelry designed by a Maia, or a Forerunner ring, generally speaking younger races go ape shit for that kinda stuff and immediately start fighting over it. Yet here we are camped out on earth afraid that the next race that looks at us funny will end our civilization, and that we're just lucky none of them have tried yet. What gives?
