Do we know yet why we aren't the center of the universe? (Destiny)
So we know that the Traveler had no problem flitting through space, system to system like a crazy little evolution-bringing bug. We know he raised up the Fallen, and that when the Darkness came, the Traveler fled (to us, eventually) and the Fallen chased it.
We also know that the Traveler was here for a long time (not long, cosmically speaking, but still several hundred years) before the darkness got here.
And we know that the Vex transcend space and time and worship the darkness, that the hive seek light to fuel their immortality (but are not necessarily servants of the darkness, right?) and that the Cabal are a seemingly neutral party to all of this light/darkness nonsense.
Okay, so I think we can assume that the Vex would let the darkness know where the Traveler was at any given moment *if* the Traveler was actually important to the Vex or the Darkness. So either the Darkness has known that the Traveler was here since it first showed up, and literally didn't care enough to come here right away, or the darkness came as quickly as it could and just travels really, really slowly, or the Vex didn't see the presence of the traveler as significant enough to report back to their dark overlords.
To me, it seems far more likely that the Darkness just don't care.
The Traveler is this one thing, which is only able to raise up a single planet at a time, and seems to grant benefits to only single species at a time, and which has been - up to this point - constantly running from the darkness whenever it's been encountered. The Darkness, however, is clearly some kind of vast power capable of dominating multiple systems and the space between them simultaneously. That kind of force is really unfathomable. It's effectively infinite when compared to the entirety of the Guardians. So what does it care if some ants are harder to kill than others? We're a nuisance, nothing more.
I predict that, until the plot of Destiny turns so far as to show the Guardians actively pushing the darkness back, out of Sol and the systems beyond, that we'll never encounter the true might of the real enemy.
So no, I don't think we're the center of the universe. We're an anthill in a forest. Interesting, maybe, but by no means important. Yet.
