Do we know yet why we aren't the center of the universe? (Destiny)

So either the Darkness has known that the Traveler was here since it first showed up, and literally didn't care enough to come here right away, or the darkness came as quickly as it could and just travels really, really slowly, or the Vex didn't see the presence of the traveler as significant enough to report back to their dark overlords.

Wait, aren't you forgetting that the Traveler sacrificed itself (was forced to sacrifice itself by Rasputin?) in order to stop the Darkness at the collapse? So doesn't that mean that the Darkness already knows where the Traveler is? My assumption has been that whatever the Traveler did when the Darkness came last time, it managed to wound it enough that it hasn't been able to return yet.

In my head at least, I'm picturing something like The Fifth Element. The Traveler manages to destroy the Darkness, but after a period of time it's able to reconstitute itself and when it does it will be coming for us. In the meantime we are trying to revive the Traveler and gain enough power for ourselves that we'll be able to survive when it does.
