Initial Iron Banner Thoughts (Destiny)

Ran the Iron banner last night, had a real good time, while others did not. We had a rough start, but eventually started winning more than we were losing. I do have a few thoughts however.

1. Level Differences

Agreed. I didn't really notice much (any?) difference from the little I play regular crucible. I'm sitting at 300 or 301 depending on loadout, which seems to be pretty average for most of the players I saw.

2. Drop rates are LOW

We (squid, Disciple, and I), played from about 7:30ish to 10:00, and Disciple got on Legendary Glove engram, and that's all we saw all night.

3. Map Rotation was BAD

Same experience here. We started off decently enough with the new Dreadnaught map, Widow's Court, and Pantheon. Then we got stuck on Earth for five or six games with either Exodus Blue or Rusted Lands just swapping every game.

I like Pantheon, though!

4. Titan Hammer was REAL

I guess in a really competitive environment like Iron Banner, it kinda sucks. But I think it's pretty funny. I play Stormcaller, but I think it's hilarious when a Titan pops his hammer. When everyone hears that sound, they immediately just turn around and start running. It's great.

But yes, it's way overpowered. It's absolutely ridiculous.

5. Bounties

Yeah, bounties seems very manageable, even for folks like me that aren't great. The only one I actually might not complete is the one weekly that requires you to have the Top Overall Score. Unless I get really, really lucky, I won't be able to make that happen.

Overall

I agree. I had a blast last night. Hopefully I didn't frustrate Disciple and squid too much with my poor performance. This is actually the first time I've played Iron Banner with the folks around here, so it was great!

As a side note, I really do like my setup right now. I have a 299 Suros Dis-43 and 310 version of the Raid Sniper, which is actually a decent weapon in the Crucible. It works for my sniping style (which is awful) of never managing headshots insteading getting two quick body shots.

I just need a decent Machine Gun.
